Port Vell is a wonderful start or end of your La Rambla experience where you can grab some food or enjoy a cup of coffee while admiring the beautiful blue waters, bright sky and city view. It is a wonderful entertainment area with restaurants, IMAX theater and a great shopping mall. Port Vell is connected to La Rambla via Rambla de Mar, a scenic swing bridge with great vintage points. Also, check out the old customs building, completely renovated in all its architectural beauty.
The 60 meters high monument was built in honor of Christopher Columbus in the city where he disembarked from his trip to America. The great discoverer is depicted with a navigation map and pointing to the sea in direction to the "new land". Gaudi desined and built this palace for the industrial tycoon Eusebi Güell in the late 1800s.
